A) How to Play

Card Values:
Blackjack is played with eight fifty-two card decks. After each hand has been played the cards are re-shuffled. All face cards are worth 10 and the cards from 2 - 10 are worth their own value. Aces can be valued at 1 or 11; if counting the ace as 11 would put the hand over 21 then it is automatically counted as a 1. The value of the player’s ace does not have to be specified; it will be used to provide the player with the best possible score.

Betting:
Chip values are displayed on the interface.  Click on a chip to ‘attach’ it to the mouse pointer and click on the betting circle to place a wager.  Repeat this process as many times and with as many different chips as needed to make up the desired wager.
Click on the ‘deal’ button to begin the hand.

Hit:
Hit requests another card.  Additional cards may be drawn until the hand reaches or exceeds a total of 21.

Stand:
Stand requests that no more cards will be drawn to the hand.  The total will be judged against the dealer's hand at the end of the round.

Split:
Two cards of the same value may be split into two separate hands that will be played against the house.  Splitting will place an additional wager equal to the starting bet on the layout and the hands will both be played prior to the completion of the dealer’s hand.

Double Down:
Double Down provides the opportunity to increase the wager on the hand and draw exactly one additional card.  This option is only available when the hand consists of exactly two cards.

Insurance:
When the dealer's up-card is an Ace an optional bet called insurance is allowed.  Selecting Insurance places an additional wager of exactly one half of the amount wagered on the hand on the table.  If the dealer has a ten-value card (producing a blackjack for the house), the hand wager is forfeit*, but the insurance bet pays 2:1, thus ‘insuring’ no loss for the hand.  If the dealer does not make a blackjack, the house collects the insurance bet and the hand proceeds under normal rules to its conclusion.

*Exception: If the player’s hand is also a Blackjack, the player does not lose the original wager; it is a tie, or ‘push’.
